Anita Trubitt is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Hawaii and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with the Association for Play Therapy. She maintains a full-time private practice in child play therapy and family therapy. She accepts judicial appointments by First Circuit Family Court in Honolulu to conduct child custody evaluations, or to serve as child therapist and parenting counselor in contested divorce or paternity cases. She is a monthly presenter to the court’s two KIDS FIRST programs: for divorcing and for never-married parents. The “marriage” of play therapy and custody evaluations is the subject of most of the presentations she has given nationally, internationally, regionally and locally (see CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS and TRAINING). She wrote the first edition of her self-published book “PLAY THERAPY GOES TO COURT: A Guide for Conducting a Child-Parent Evaluation” in 1994. The Second Edition was written in 2004.
For a balance to these intense professional commitments, she enjoys recreational international folk dancing and plays the accordion in a Balkan-Fusion band, Partners in Time.
She lives with her husband Arman Kitapci and their two cats, Mocha and Neffy, in Kailua, Hawaii |
